Dynamics CRM 2015 came with many good features and one of the long
awaited feature is multi entity search. Yes, now we can search using the key
words in many configured entities includes custom entities. We don’t need any 3rd
party global search tools anymore.
Now, we will go thru how we can configure this multiple
entity search in new CRM 2015.
Step 1 :
Navigate to Settings –> Administration –> System
Settings. In the General tab, you’ll see the section “Set up Quick Find”.
Step 2:
Click on the Select button and you will see the
screen below to configure the list of entities.
·
Enable Quick Find record limits: This
setting is actually was introduced in CRM 2011 and it uses the organizational
database setting to limit quick find search results to 10,000 records to
improve performance.
· Select entities for search: If you click
on the Select button, you’ll be presented the window below and where you’re
able to select up to 10 entities at a time to enable for multi-entity search.
Step 3:
Click on that magnifying glass and that will bring you to a
page where you can enter any search criteria (no minimum number of characters
needed meaning you can type in a single letter), and click search do see your
results.
There are few limitations which we need to know that,
- We can only configure up to 10 entities for search.
- This doesn't work with USD
- There is no suggestions or recently used keywords in the search bar.
But, it is really helpful for the end user or business users
to search the particular items from the configured entities even from Notes and
activities.
That’s all....
That’s all....
